Few protesters chant slogans in mall

Tuesday, June 30, 2020

A few protesters gathered in a Central shopping and office complex at time today, within hours of confirmation that China's legislature has overwhelmingly approved the draft national security law for Hong Kong.

At about 1:00pm the protesters gathered in the atrium of The Landmark. They chanted slogans, sang protest songs, held up a banner and waved the colonial flags, while the mall security guards watched. One protester wore a T-shirt blazoned with the slogan: 'Free Hong Kong.'

They called for Hong Kong people to join a rally tomorrow.

Police later cordoned off different areas of the mall, including the atrium, detaining and searching several protesters.
