Tuesday, January 21, 2020
Leading microbiologist Yuen Kwok-yung said today the new coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan "is likely into the third wave," meaning that the virus could be spreading in health care institutions and among families.
In a press briefing today, Yuen said he had been shown the epidemic curve and data when he visited Wuhan and that the doctors, epidemiologists and experts there are cooperative, open and transparent.
He said the first wave is mainly due to infections from animals, and the second wave is infections between people.
“It is necessary for us to heighten all control measures in terms of epidemiology, hospital infection control. The awareness of all Chinese citizens must be heightened at the same time.”
