Sky's the limit for drone racersCentral Station | 19 Nov 2019
Hiigh-flying drone racers reached new heights in Hong Kong at the weekend.
The Hong Kong Drone Sports Association, founded earlier this year, organized the 2019 FAI Hong Kong Open Drone Racing Championship at Fung Kai No1 Secondary School in Sheung Shui.
The event attracted 23 local and elite drone-racers from around the world, including the United States, Korea and China.
It capitalized on the growing popularity of the new sport of drone racing, which has been called the "Formula One of the skies."
Participants were required to build their own drones, with the association joking that pilots had to be "mentally stable to be pitted against each other."
When the dust settled, Korean pilot Sungju Park was named the champion, while Hongkongers Ronnie Chow and Ken Inoue were first and second runners-up, respectively.
