Tycoon's firm rejects cop rumor

It's all fake news. It's not true that Stephen Lo Wai-chung will join Hong Kong's richest tycoon, Li Ka-shing, after the police commissioner retires.

Widely spread on social media platform WhatsApp, the rumor cited sources that said Lo - who is 57 - will be hired by Li after he retires from the force by the end of this month.

However, a spokesman for Li's company, CK Asset Holdings, dismissed the rumors.

This came after Li became a controversial figure when he first spoke about the recent social situation in Tsz Shan Monastery in September, when the 91-year-old said he hoped "the government can keep one side of the net open for the future masters of Hong Kong."

The Li Ka Shing Foundation last month announced it would donate HK$1 billion to support local small and medium enterprises that are facing difficulties from unprecedented challenges and slowdown in the economy.
