An Australian teenager has been charged with killing 20 kangaroos by mowing them down with his truck.
The dead Eastern gray kangaroos were spread along roads in Tura Beach, 450 kilometers south of Sydney.
Two joeys were among the dead and three were orphaned as a result of the Saturday night attacks by the 19-year-old.
Although the sight of dead kangaroos by the roadside is not uncommon in New South Wales state - about 90 percent of car crashes there are caused by collisions with the animals - the scale and nature of the killings shocked locals.
Eastern grays venture from a mother's pouch at about nine months but are not independent until they reach 18 months.
