Visit Macao this September to experience a merrymaking of enthralling events.

The 4th Macau International Lantern Festival

Taking place at the Waterfront Promenade of One Central Macau and Wynn Macau, Anim’Arte NAM VAN, the 4th Macau International Lantern Festival will join the firework display contests for a spectacular duo celebration. 

Led by renowned Macanese architect and artist Carlos Marreiros, the collaboration is comprised of ten monumental and illuminative lantern sculptures themed as ‘70 + 20 Commemoration - All in the Family’, featuring esteemed Macao painter Lai Ieng, Chinese artist Zuo Zheng Yao, Portuguese artist Raquel Gralheiro and Italian artist Guido Scarabottolo, dazzling Macao with bright colors and delicate contours.

Extending along the Waterfront Promenade of Wynn Macau, you will find a magnificent art installation is designed by Carlos Marreiros and a group of local artists under the theme ‘Wynn Butterfly Story’, showcasing the neon light installations decorated with patterns ‘70’ and ‘20’, fluttering butterflies and blossoming lotus together with a ‘Hand in Hand’ architecture lit up by thousands of lanterns to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th Anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland.

Make sure you also visit Anim’Arte Nam Van, as an array of mesmerizing light installations created by Chiii Design themed ‘View Around the Lantern’ can also be found there. This Mid-Autumn installation comprises of three lanterns with ‘Shining Festival’, ‘Gather with Jade Rabbit’ and ‘Admiring the Moon’, under the concept of ‘Traditional Lantern with Novel Experience’, creating an interactive experience for visitors and while celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with the Macao community.

Youth Art Program

As a tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, the Youth Art Program will be held to get the Macao youth involved in the city’s vibrant art and culture scene.

The program will be held throughout September and the beginning on October, on 7, 13, 21, 28 September, and 1, 5 October at Anim’Arte NAM VAN. There will be a myriad of exciting performances difference kinds of street dance, folk dance, kids cheerleading dance, kids belly dance, magic shows, rope skipping, Chinese orchestra, lion dance, youth bands, fancy football, kung fu shows, and more, with each show lasting 15-30 minutes!

Through various types of performances, Macao’s entertainment and tourism culture will be further promoted. Students and young people can also be more acquainted and engaged with Macao’s wonderful events. It is a great chance for visitors to immerse themselves in festivity and enjoy the cultural charm of the city.

World Tourism Day

When traveling to Macao on September 27, some lucky visitors will get gifts when arriving at Macao’s main border checkpoints! On that day, the city’s annual Tray Race will also be held. During it, participants from hotels and restaurants will balance a bottle of beer on a tray whilst running from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to Senado Square. There will also be a traditional lion dance and music performances at the event. Be sure to check it out!
