Joshua laughs at collusion claims

Demosisto secretary-general Joshua Wong Chi-fung laughed off allegations that he has been colluding with the United States during the ongoing anti-fugitive bill saga, after he was spotted meeting one of the country's consulates in Hong Kong.

Pro-Beijing publications Wen Wei Po and Ta Kung Pao reported that "some netizens discovered that Demosisto leaders Joshua Wong and Nathan Law Kwun-chung were discussing something with a foreign woman at 5.30pm on Tuesday at the JW Marriott Hotel in Admiralty."

The report said the woman was the political unit chief of United States Consulate General Julie Eadeh, and said they were plotting to come up with plans regarding the fugitive bill.

Wong dismissed the allegation following an inquiry by The Standard, saying: "I even went to Washington several times, so what's so special about meeting a US Consul?"

He then posted a formal response to the pro-establishment media report, saying they were only discussing the legislation of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, and that they were urging the United States to stop exporting tear gas and rubber bullets to the SAR.

"We also met the US Consul that visited the Legislative Council and have a meeting with pro-establishment and pan-democrat legislators," Wong said.

He also made fun of the media report, saying that there are Caucasians in the Hong Kong police force, and that local policemen are very polite to them too.
