Cathay Pacific announces plans to continue its support for start-ups talents in Hong Kong and reveals quality of life technology improvements at RISE.
Earlier this July, RISE- Asia’s largest technology conference, took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, gathering over 350 speakers including leaders of the world’s largest companies and a plethora of emerging technology startups from more than 100 countries.
As the official airline sponsor of RISE for the second consecutive year, Cathay Pacific has announced brand new updates to its ‘Ignition Project’- a new wide-reaching IT ecosystem launched last year. To foster Hong Kong to become one of the leading technology hubs in Asia, Cathay has selected eight homegrown start-ups to showcase their innovative solutions at the conference which it will support and potentially collaborate with.
“At Cathay, we aim to do more than just connecting destinations. Hong Kong is well poised to becoming Asia’s leading hub for technology, and with it being the home of Cathay Pacific, we are passionate in helping it get there,” said Paul Loo, Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer. “The eight companies we are supporting this year are a testament to the city’s entrepreneurial spirit, and share Cathay Pacific’s passion for innovation that also benefits the local community. They are also agile in their ability to operate at the forefront of a constantly evolving industry while continuing to develop unique solutions to fresh challenges.”
The eight start-ups not only demonstrate a flair for technological innovation, but also have unique aspects which help travellers appreciate their travel experiences more, a goal that Cathay is dedicated to. Among them, Tourbox is an intelligent app that records your trip routes, all the while managing your itineraries and photos, allowing travellers to relive these fond memories in detail.
Wherever you go, Tourbox records your location with your phone’s GPS, auto-organizing your travel destinations with the photos you take, creating your very own travel journal that you will cherish greatly. Afterwards, there will also be a dedicated link where you can share these memories on various social media at ease.
KaChick is a unique platform which allows travelers to look for the right photographer to take the perfect photos while they travel in Asia. Not everybody has the luxury to travel often, and when you do, you want to make sure it counts. The platform allows users to view the photographers’ experience and portfolio so they can get a good sense of their style and help take the perfect shots which will capture beloved memories that will not be forgotten.
At the conference, Cathay has also introduced state-of-the-art upgrades to its existing customer service technologies to provide an enhanced experience for passengers both onboard and off flights. The Chatbot and Livechat functions were introduced to expand the number of self-service touch points available to customers. These functions simulate the service of a live person in dealing with enquiries, intelligently selecting solutions for problems presented by customers, allowing them to utilize Cathay’s platforms to a high degree of satisfaction whenever they desire.
For business class passengers, there is a new mobile app ‘Smart Serve’, which will be used on iPads to assist cabin crews in delivering an elevated in-flight service experience. The app works by meticulously organizing passenger requests down to their flight meals and any personal in-flight preferences, helping cut service wait time for 30 minutes, allowing cabin crew to work more efficiently and to reduce the amount of walking between the cabin and the galley.
Last but not least, there are also other new loyalty programs such as the ‘Business Plus’ which simplifies companies’ business travel management and gives back to them for flying with Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon with a range of rewards and benefits. By flying with Cathay, companies earn Business Plus points which will allow them to move up a 5-tier system, unlocking rewards and privileges including cabin upgrades, cash vouchers and luggage priority rights along the way, enabling them to enjoy the Cathay experience more than ever.
“Moving forward, Cathay Pacific will continue to strive to provide a top of the line airline experience for our passengers and support start-ups in Hong Kong to forge a better future and secure it a spot on the international stage,” said Loo.
