Anchor hits back on 'biased' reports

Central Station | 15 Jul 2019

TVB news anchor Liz Kam Ying challenged netizens to study journalism after they criticized the free-to-air broadcaster's reports on the anti-fugitive bill protests.

Many people have lambasted Television Broadcasts for being overly biased toward the government and police.

The Communications Authority has received about 12,000 complaints against TVB's reports since June.

It was Kam's 29th birthday yesterday, but instead of good wishes, comments left under her Instagram posts in the morning said TVB's news department had "betrayed Hongkongers" and "did not distinguish right from wrong."

Firing back, Kam said: "Can you tell which of the reports are fake news?"

She also said people could file complaints with the Communications Authority. When people online cited the 12,000 complaints, she hit back: "If you have any questions, you may study journalism and work as a reporter to understand more about how to report facts neutrally."
