Activists aim to take bite out of DAB

Young activists say they have the stomach for a fight with the pro-establishment camp.

They plan to join activities organized by the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong when snacks or something more substantial is being served with the intention of eating the party out of existence.

As a one hungry driver of the idea said, the aim is "to eat until the party becomes poor."

Party member and legislator Ann Chiang Lai-wan welcomed the challenge, saying people are welcome to join any activities. "The DAB's door is open to all," she declared.

The eating-out plan was served online after protesters surrounded a DAB stall in Tin Shui Wai for two hours on Friday and criticized the party for supporting amendments to the fugitive ordinance.

There could be an appetite for more as DAB community activities also include cheap tours and meals at discounted prices.

One current offer is watching Spider-Man: Far From Home at a Sha Tin cinema for HK$10. That's organized by the party's Ma On Shan community officer, Henry Chu Wun-chiu.
