Embrace true artistic virtuosity this June

Macao’s mega international arts and cultural event Art Macao is joined by a string of highly anticipated events including the Macao Lotus Flower Festival to give your summer a superb start.

The long wait is finally over. Art Macao, the five-month mega international arts and cultural event will finally be commencing this June leading with its main exhibition- ‘Art Macao: International Art Exhibition’ at the Macao Museum of Art, showcasing a myriad of mesmerizing artworks selected by hotels and integrated resorts, seeking to reveal the charm of contemporary visual arts in a variety of forms, including paintings, ceramic, sculptures, interactive installations and multimedia.

Closely following the exhibition, ‘Unexpected Encounters’ by Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited will be gracing art fans with an impressive art collection of contemporary masters from each continent at the City of Dreams from June 6 to October 31 which demonstrate how contemporary art has liberated itself from classical forms, providing the audience with a unique encounter with each piece.

From June 7 to September 3, audiences will be immersed in the history and art of Chinese culture through a modern artistic ink experience- ‘A Metamorphosis: No End to End’, by Wen Ma at MGM COTAI. This specially created multimedia masterpiece demonstrates the diversity of ink using natural, sculptural and virtual textures through 3 installation operas in one act with ‘Paradise Interrupted’ at MGM Theater as the grand finale, allowing the public to truly experience the beauty of ink.

There are also many other exhibitions such as ‘Wynn - Garden of Earthly Delights’ from June 6 to October 10 at Wynn Macau & Wynn Palace which features an extraordinary selection of modern and contemporary art pieces from the world’s most renowned artists; and ‘Interspace’ from June 8 to October 31 at Riviera Hotel Macau which will showcase the works by famous French sculptor Gabrielle Wambaugh that reflects the integration of space and art, giving everyone an inspiring and diverse throughout the summer.

The 33rd National Lotus Flowers Exhibition and The 19th Macao Lotus Flower Festival

It’s the lotus flower season again! From June 3 to 16, marvel at the beauty of stunning blossoms at Avenida da Praia in Taipa and Tap Seac Square. This year, the theme is ‘Splendours of the Tang Dynasty’. The theme flower is the pristine and elegant‘Haojiang Qing’, which will be joined by other flowers to showcase the beauty of the great era of the Tang Dynasty.

There will be 25 distinctive exhibition areas of lotus from provinces and cities in China which reflects the customs and characteristics of different regions in China at Tap Seac Square. In addition, there will also be over 13,000 potted lotus displayed across Macao, along with a series of activities to promote the lotus culture. The activities will include the ‘Retrospective Exhibition on the Past National Lotus Flowers Exhibitions’, floral art exhibitions, photography exhibitions, lotus culture exhibitions, and competitions of various kinds such as floral art and floral drawing contest.

Last but not least, there will also be a variety of workshops for everyone to participate in captivating activities such as tea tasting and handicraft sessions, allowing those who love lotus flowers to truly appreciate them in Macao through the interactive and immersive experience.

Macao International Dragon Boat Races

As a tribute to the annual Dragon Boat Festival, the Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held on June 1, 2, and 7 at Nam Van Lake Nautical Center for epic races that will give audiences an adrenalin rush.

Organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Governmen and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, both local and non-local teams will be invited to participate in races ranging from 200-500m, celebrating the Dragon Boat and promoting the development of sports and tourism activities in Macao.

FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League - Macao 2019

At the end of this month, the best volleyball players in the world will gather in Macao once again for a mighty showdown in a preliminary round of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League. The event is the sport’s top annual competition for the women, and the Macao round is now in its second year. Participating national teams include China, Belgium, Korea and Thailand, fighting to be among the six teams to make it to the finals.
