Hysan sees healthy visitor rise

Hysan Development's (0014) shopping malls recorded a double-digit increase in visitors during the Labour Day holiday, with sales in the lifestyle and food and beverage categories rising sharply.

Chief operating officer Ricky Lui Kon-wai believes mainland tourists will look for spots featuring local characteristics, such as Lee Garden in Causeway Bay, which is among their top choices.

Chairman Irene Lee Yun-lien noted the Sino-US trade negotiations have dragged on for some time, which may have impacted consumer confidence.

She said the group's shopping malls are diversified, and it will make technological upgrades to enhance customer experience.

The occupancy rate of shops and offices in Hysan premises in the first quarter was 97 percent and 98 percent respectively, as the supply and demand remain healthy.
