Tip or pay cut for Carrie?

Central Station | 16 May 2019

A cut in pay for Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor has been demanded by Democratic Party chairman Wu Chi-wai as he feels she has failed to do her job adequately.

Wu made the proposal during discussion of the appropriation bill in the Legislative Council yesterday, saying Lam refuses to listen to opposition against the fugitive law amendment.

This didn't sit well with pro-government lawmaker Junius Ho Kwan-yiu and he came to Lam's defense, saying she is working diligently. Officials in the accountability system deserve to be "tipped" if they perform well, he added during his counter-proposal.
