Never too young to start

Founded by Joanna Hotung in 2013, Mills International Preschool is sponsored by the Hotung family, a prominent pioneer of quality education for over 100 years. "At Mills, we aim to inspire and develop the global leaders of tomorrow," says Hotung.

Following the UK's Early Years curriculum framework, as well as teaching in English and Mandarin, the school offers playgroup, pre-nursery, as well as kindergarten programs for children aged six months to six years old.

Mills International Preschool believes that every child has the right to achieve their full potential. In a supportive and stimulating environment, students will learn to challenge themselves, build upon their strengths, and excel in pursuing their passions.

It is the only preschool and pre-nursery in Hong Kong that offers the MindUP curriculum, and joins a number of leading ESF and international primary as well as secondary schools in providing this invaluable addition to the general curriculum.

MindUP is a mindfulness training program devised by The Hawn Foundation in the United States. It provides a set of strategies to cultivate students' wellbeing and emotional balance. Basically, students will learn the techniques for focused attention.

One of the program objectives is to help students understand, express, and manage their thoughts and feelings. For example, a simple breathing strategy helps students regulate their thoughts and emotions.

It is designed to encourage even the youngest students to gain more awareness of how their body and mind are connected. With better control of their reactions and emotions, students will become more capable to concentrate, supported by daily repetition of attentive listening, and regular "brain breaks."

Apart from individual growth, the program also helps improve cognitive, emotional, and social development of students. Students are taught to be kind and have empathy for others, so they can learn to resolve conflicts without aggression, and acquire a greater appreciation of differing opinions.

The co-curriculum, provided by Kids' Gallery and Star English nurtures minds and reinforces learning.

Incorporating STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), the classes have adopted an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

Mills International Preschool is a division of the KG Group, which has been at the forefront of education in Hong Kong for over 20 years, with graduates being admitted to some of the most highly regarded primary schools in Hong Kong.
