McDull loses some of his shine

Central Station | 4 Feb 2019

Tourists can't keep their hands off the new statue of cartoon character McDull at the Avenue of Stars, so much so that it has led to some of the paint wearing off.

After the reopening of the avenue on Thursday, citizens and tourists flocked to the Tsim Sha Tsui harborfront to see the result of the three-year renovation.

One of the big changes is that the fencing that used to surround McDull has been removed so people can get closer to the cartoon pig.

With many tourists touching McDull when having pictures taken, it has already had a serious effect as the color has started disappearing from the lovable character's fingers.

But AOS Management insists the statue's color is still the same, and it won't bring back the fence.

Meanwhile, there was tight security around the statue of kung fu icon Bruce Lee as tourists were kept away. But guards did not stop children from climbing onto benches or urinating.
