Out-of-this-world price for Star Wars helmet

Central Station | 17 Dec 2018

A helmet worn in the original Star Wars film has sold at auction for a sky-high 190,000 (HK$1.87 million).

Also during a four-day sale of Hollywood memorabilia in Los Angeles, the hoverboard ridden by Michael J Fox in Back To The Future II went for 81,000 and a handwritten manuscript for The Wizard Of Oz fetched 950,000.

Two Oscar Best Picture statuettes for Mutiny On The Bounty in 1935 and Gentleman's Agreement in 1947 sold for a total of 581,000.

One item that did not sell was a lightsaber originally listed as being wielded by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It was withdrawn last week amid concerns over its authenticity.
