After a couple of early warnings that cold weather was on the way, winter has arrived in Hong Kong.
Temperatures plunged by around eight degrees Celsius overnight to 17 degrees, and the New Territories is as usual in line for chillier conditions. The cause, as Hong Kong Observatory's experts point out, is a cold front sweeping over southern China that will be in coastal areas tonight.
And that's just the start of it: Observatory forecasters say the mercury will continue to drop significantly over the next few days.
And making for even more testing conditions the weekend will be cloudy with rain patches that will continue to Monday. By then, temperatures will range between 12 and 16 degrees C in most places, but Ta Kwu Ling is in line for a very nippy 9 degrees.
