Harrison Ford's big screen return as Indiana Jones has been pushed back to 2021 -- two years later than the fifth movie in the action series was first set for release.
The new delay comes with the script unfinished and a writer needed.
The film will reunite Ford with director Stephen Spielberg in the Indiana Jones franchise created by George Lucas that has grossed nearly US$2 billion (HK$15.5 billion) with four films. Disney announced in 2016 it was going ahead with the fifth.
The delay means Ford will be 79 when he appears as the adventurer-archeologist. His age has been a theme in the films since an exchange in the first movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, in 1981.
Karen Allen, playing Jones's love interest Marion, says "You're not the man I knew 10 years ago," and Ford responds with the now-famous line: "It's not the years honey, it's the mileage."
Among projects Spielberg is working on now are a remake of West Side Story and The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara.
