Samsung denies Olympic lobbying allegationSports | 17 Apr 2018
Samsung denied a media report it launched illicit lobbying to help bring the Winter Olympics to Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The SBS television network reported that Samsung tried to use as a lobbyist Papa Massata Diack, the son of Lamine Diack, a disgraced former head of the International Association of Athletics Federations. SBS said the son requested Samsung to sign a US$9.5 million (HK$74.57 million) sponsorship for the IAAF's Diamond League in return for possibly lobbying some IOC members to support Pyeongchang's bid.
Samsung said it signed legitimate sponsorship contracts with sports organizations.
