Duterte chows down on Jollibee

Central Station | 13 Apr 2018

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday enjoyed one of his country's most popular dishes as he indulged in a box of Chickenjoy from Jollibee.

He made an unscheduled visit to the Filipino fast-food branch in Whampoa at about 5pm to grab a quick bite, before attending a meeting with the Filipino community in Kai Tak.

Despite being flanked by more than 10 police vehicles, almost 100 residents stopped and tried to get a picture of him.

Accompanying Duterte was his wife Honeylet Avancena, daughters Sara Duterte Carpio and Kitty Duterte, and grandson Stingray.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Cayetano live streamed the visit.

A Filipino expat was also invited to join the family dinner and Duterte made it all the more special as he offered his assistance so she could fly home for a holiday to see her family.

The Philippines' top fast-food chain, Jollibee operates a nationwide network of over 750 stores and also has four branches in Hong Kong.
