HK 'perfect stopover' for Japan's Sunwolves

Sunwolves coach Jamie Joseph is excited about returning to Hong Kong for the Japanese team's Super Rugby match against South Africa's Stormers.

Joseph coached Otago Highlanders when the Super Rugby side played French Top 14 outfit Racing 92 in an exhibition match here.

"The amount of support that we received when we were in Hong Kong with the Highlanders is only going to grow with such a huge Japanese community in Hong Kong, so we are really excited," Joseph said.

The former All Black is also looking forward to reduced logistical challenges for the May 19 clash at Mong Kok Stadium, which counts as a "home game" for Sunwolves.

"The challenge for the Sunwolves has not necessarily been the location, we have had many games in Singapore - it has been the compounded amount of travel that the team has had to go through," he said.

"Hong Kong is a closer destination. It is on our way to our first Australian tour to Melbourne and Canberra. It is a perfect stopover for us and the game against the Stormers will be a crucial one."

Four seating categories and preferential rates are offered by the Hong Kong Rugby Union for youth (aged 12 and under) and those purchasing during the early bird stage, from yesterday to April 16.

Uncovered general admission seating is just HK$249 (early bird pricing at HK$199) with kids uncovered seating priced at HK$100.

General admission and covered seats will be sold for HK$399 (early bird pricing at HK$349). Individual hospitality tickets, inclusive of covered seating and free food and beverage, are priced at HK$738.
