Tiffany returning to scene of big victory

Tiffany Chan Tsz-ching will be the star attraction when she returns home for the EFG Hong Kong Ladies Open in May.

The LPGA Tour rookie will be back at the scene of one of her biggest triumphs when she tees off at the Old Course of the Hong Kong Golf Club on May 11-13 against a field led by defending champion Supamas Sangchan of Thailand.

Chan won the tournament as an amateur in 2016, starting a dream run that would see her qualify for the Rio Olympics and then make it to the LPGA Tour.

"I am very excited to be given the chance to play at the Hong Kong Ladies Open again," Chan said. "I have had so much support over the years from my friends and family, the fans ... playing in front of my home crowd gives me an opportunity to thank them personally for their constant encouragement.

"I hope I can play well in Fan Ling and give everyone something to cheer about."

Stephanie Ho, the Hong Kong Ladies Close Amateur Championship winner, will also compete. The pop singer, a childhood friend of Chan, has put her entertainment career on hold to focus on golf.

"Growing up with Tiffany, playing golf professionally was one of my dreams," she said. "Being able to compete against Tiffany and so many world-class players again is a dream come true."
