Australian Scott Hend will be seeking an unprecedented third Macao Open title when he leads seven former winners in challenging defending champion Pavit Tangkamolprasert next week.
Australian Hend, the 2013 and 205 champion, will be joined in the Asian Tour event by fellow two-time winner Zhang Lianwei of China, India's Gaganjeet Bhullar, Taiwanese Chan Yih-shin, Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant, Australian David Gleeson and American Jason Knutzon.
"I am excited to return to Macau," Hend said. "I have had a solid season and a strong summer so I am quietly confident of my chances to regain the title."
Adding to his confidence is the fact that the Macau Golf and Country Club course, where the event will be played starting Thursday, appears to suit his game.
"Many of the players in the field are regulars who know the course very well so it will be a tough but satisfying one to win," Hend added.
Admission to the US$500,000 (HK$3.9 million) tournament is free.
