A sky full of birthday cakes

Central Station | 14 Sep 2017

A birthday cake treat is planned for spectators on both sides of Victoria Harbour during the National Day fireworks display.

Some high-tech magic will add birthday cake patterns and a "3D heart" effect to the pyrotechnics extravaganza.

The display celebrating the 68th birthday of the People's Republic will start at 9pm on October 1, and last for 23 minutes and nine seconds. It will be divided into eight segments, and a total of 31,888 pyrotechnics worth HK$13 million will be fired.

In the sixth segment, entitled Love in Hong Kong, a 3D heart effect will be displayed for the first time, with heart-shaped patterns and flashing lights. The birthday cake effects will be in the finale.
