Insurance company FWD said it's the first firm to launch the Pan-Asia medical protection coverage, which covers a network of 130 hospitals in Asia, including Hong Kong, the mainland, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan.

Of these 130 hospitals at the one-stop health management service, about 90 are located in 41 mainland cities, while 12 are in the SAR, and three in Singapore.

FWD said insured customers who have been diagnosed with serious diseases and have obtained a hospital admission letter will be able to receive inpatient medical advice.

This includes assessment and elaboration on the insured's medical reports, alternative medical treatment options, and estimated medical expenses in the pan-Asian region.

From pre-treatment to post- treatment, the medical coverage offers treatment advice and referral, specialist consultation, hospital admission and treatment.

Established in 2013, FWD spans Hong Kong and Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam, offering life and medical insurance, general insurance, and employee benefits across a number of its markets.

FWD Group, currently has more than 1.2 million customers and some 2,900 employees. It's the insurance arm of Pacific Century Group, an Asia- based private investment group established in 1993.
