Orphan pups get a bow-wow from Chow

Ten puppies on Lamma can almost literally thank their lucky stars when they find a home.

For the puppies are being helped by none other than movie star Chow Yun- fat. That bit of news comes after Chow, according to a Lamma Animal Welfare Centre posting on its Facebook page, saw volunteers transporting the puppies.

Chow - a Lamma boy who went on to star in Hollywood hits such as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End following his star turn in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - will be making a personal appeal for dog lovers to adopt the puppies.

Lamma Animal Welfare Centre is also encouraging pet lovers to donate money to support its operations. The post about Chow has drawn likes on Facebook numbering thousands.

Chow, of course a dog lover himself, said he intervened as he was worried that the dogs might be sent to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department if they could not find new homes.

The movie star's appeal should help, but the puppies should have no difficulties attracting owners given that they are adorable in their own right.
