Celebrity cat Brother Cream has returned to the public limelight with a slimmer figure - he appeared in an Hong Kong Book Fair event to greet hundreds of fans yesterday.
Since the newspaper store of his owner, Bee Ko Chee-shing, folded in May, Cream has been living at home. It shed 1.2 kilos, and vets still encourage him to lose more, Ko said.
Cream looked tired and nervous, but resorted to his trademark laziness after the event started. He was only half awake during the two-hour event.
A fan surnamed Fong, who works in the hotel industry, came all the way from Macau. He joked he had "fallen in love at first sight" with Brother Cream two years ago.
"I am so excited to meet Brother Cream face to face for the very first time," Fong said.
Ko has given up the idea of opening a cat cafe. Fans who would like to meet the cat can join his 11-year-old birthday party on August 5 by buying canned cat food. The cans will be donated to animal charities or other cat owners.
