Kitchee are home and dry

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Hong Kong champions Kitchee drew 2-2 with Terengganu of Malaysia last night to finish top of Group F of the AFC Cup.

The result gave Kitchee 11 points, one clear of Terengganu, and home advantage when they play the second-placed team from Group H in the round of 16 on May 23.

Spanish striker Jorge Tarres grabbed a first-half brace for Kitchee, who twice went ahead at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground, only to be pegged back each time by the visitors.

Mohamad Ashari Samsudin canceled out Tarres' ninth- minute strike, and then Abdul Hadi Yahaya struck a 69th- minute penalty after Tarres had scored his second on the stroke of half-time.
