Former top judge Power dies in Brunei

Noel Power, who was acting chief justice from August 1996 to June 1997, died yesterday in Brunei after a heart attack. Power had been sitting in Brunei as president of the Court of Appeal.

Chief Justice Andrew Li Kwok-nang said Power was one of the most outstanding judges to have served Hong Kong in recent decades. Power, an Australian, joined the Judiciary in 1965 as a magistrate and retired in 1999 as vice president of the Court of Appeal. He was also a non- permanent judge of the Court of Final Appeal.
