Hong Kong Disneyland was enjoying a bumper day Tuesday while many of the territory's businesses were suffering the effects of the WTO protests.

With nearly two thirds of Hong Kong's schools closed, the Lantau theme park announced at about 1pm that it had sold out for the first time since its official opening in September.

Not to be outdone, rival Ocean Park also said it recorded a 30 to 40 percent rise in attendance Tuesday.

Disneyland public affairs manager Esther Wong said the theme park remained open until 8pm, an hour later than normal, because of the number of guests.

"We also increased the shows of Golden Mickey and Lion King," Wong said.

The park's capacity is 30,000.

The September 4 Charity Day, brought long queues, prompting complaints. However, few problems were reported Tuesday.

From its official opening on September 12 till the end of last month, more than one million guests have visited Hong Kong Disneyland.
