Cash in the bag for Milan Station

Friday, May 31, 2013

Milan Station is extending its reach to gambling cruises and Macau, the world's biggest gaming destination.

The unused and second-hand luxury brand retailer has already floated a plan to open a sales counter on the Star Pisces cruise ship.

And amid "positive initial response," it is seeking to open counters at two other ships in the Star Cruises fleet, the SuperStar Aquarius and SuperStar Gemini.

Milan Station will launch a sales point in "an exclusive clubhouse" in Macau that it did not name.

Some cruises often offer overnight trips for gambling to happen in international waters. The handbag buy-sell service could well offer gamblers a kind of "revolving credit line," the company says.

That is because they could sell bags for cash, and, with a bit of luck at the gaming tables, buy them back.

Chairman Byron Yiu Kwan-tat said the new sales channels will enable the firm to "effectively target customers with high spending power" with a "cost effective sales model."
