Wang in big step on home permits

Monday, March 10, 2008

TV star and politician Liza Wang Ming- chun says she is going to ask the central government to grant home-return permits to the 24 pro-democracy lawmakers.

Wang, a Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference member, said she does not intend to ask other CPPCC members to support her proposal and she had not spoken to any pro- democracy lawmakers either.

She added that her boyfriend Law Ka-ying, didn't know about her plan. "He isn't interested in politics," she said.

Wang also took those democrats who made a big deal out of not having such permits to task, calling them "stupid."
