Neeson looking at A-Team role

Liam Neeson is reportedly in talks to star in a big- screen action film based on 1980s television series The A-Team.

Neeson, 57, most recently seen in the hit thriller Taken, is in negotiations to play the role of Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith, the character made famous by George Peppard in the TV series, the trade publication Daily Variety reported.

Production on the the film, which is being produced by Gladiator director Ridley Scott, is to get underway in August.

It is scheduled for release in June 2010.

In March, Neeson was rocked by the death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, following a fall while skiing in Canada.

Another actor linked to the A-Team project is Bradley Cooper.

The star of the hit comedy The Hangover is being lined up to play the role of Lieutenant Templeton "Faceman" Peck.

Spanning five seasons and nearly 100 episodes, The A-Team followed the fortunes of a group of US Army Special Forces soldiers wrongly convicted of a crime, who escape prison to become mercenaries. AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE
