Talks with Zhang 'far more frank'
(08-19 18:24)

The Director of Beijing's Liaison Office in Hong Kong, Zhang Xiaoming, on Tuesday wrapped up a series of talks with pan-democratic lawmakers on political reform, with Civic Party leader Alan Leong Kah-kit describing the discussions as being "far more frank" than they had expected.
Leong said even though both sides remained far apart on the issue, he hoped the latest exchange of views will set the scene for more frank and friendly discussions to come.
He said his party tried to convince Zhang that there was no need to set a high nomination threshold for chief executive candidates to safeguard national security. --RTHK
