A police hunt is underway for a 21-year-old man who is believed to have killed his stepmother and injured another woman at their flat in Tsuen Wan.
The police said they received a call about fighting in the flat in Yan Oi Building on Chuen Lung Road just before 7am on Monday.
Officers went to the flat and found a woman lying on the floor in the kitchen with stab wounds and cuts to her head, neck and back.
Another injured woman, who also suffered cuts, was found in another part of the building.
She was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
Initial police investigations suggested the Nepalese man attacked his stepmother at around 6:15am.
Others who were woken up by the attack reportedly tried to stop him, but were also attacked before the man fled the flat.
Officers believe the man has emotional and psychological problems.
It is believed that two cleavers and a fruit knife in the flat were used in the attack. The family moved to Hong Kong in 1996 had no previous history of domestic violence.
The man the police are searching for is around 1.8 metres tall and was wearing a black and red chequered shirt when he fled. --RTHK
