Henan officials under probe
(08-11 19:07)

Henan Province announced investigations into three officials on Monday as part of a national anti-corruption campaign, the provincial CPC discipline watchdog said.
Lei Lingxiao, Director of the Standing Committee of Puyang City People's Congress, Qi Liangshan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhengzhou Coal Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., and Cai Juyu, Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial People's Hospital, are being investigated over "serious discipline violations."
On July 29, the CPC announced an investigation into Zhou Yongkang, a former Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the latest and highest-ranking "tiger" in the anti-corruption campaign's crosshairs.
China's top leaders are resolved to target both high-ranking "tigers" and low-ranking "flies" in their anti-corruption efforts. Since taking the helm of the CPC in November 2012, Xi Jinping has led efforts to fight corruption, calling on the whole Party to stay on full alert, and describing corruption as a threat to the Party's very survival.
In the first half of 2014, prosecutors investigated more than 25,000 people on suspicion of corruption, according to statistics released by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) in July. --Xinhua
