(Cricket) Elgar hits century to lead SAfrica past Sri Lanka in test

South Africa opener Dean Elgar completed a fluent century Wednesday as the visitors reached 194-1 at tea on the opening day of the first test against Sri Lanka.
Elgar was batting on 102 with Faf du Plessis on 57 at the interval after South Africa took full advantage of good batting conditions.
Left-hander Elgar struck three sixes and 11 fours off 175 deliveries during his second test century.
He and du Plessis had put on 124 runs unbeaten for the second wicket after Elgar and Alviro Petersen -- who was dismissed blow for 34 -- put on 70 in their opening stand.
