No visa needed for 2018 Russia World Cup visitors
(07-11 18:17)

President Vladimir Putin said Friday Russia will introduce a specialized visa-free entry policy during the FIFA World Cup it hosts in 2018.
"We have confirmed in a law a special regime for the foreigners working for preparations of the World Cup-2018," Putin told reporters.
"Besides, on the eve and during the event, not only its participants but also the fans could come to Russia without visas," Itar-Tass news agency quoted him as saying.
This will be the first time ever that a host country lifts all visa restrictions during a major football championship, Putin noted.
He promised to do everything to make World Cup-2018 an "unforgettable festivity" and to provide the highest level of hospitality.
For that end, Russia will use its experience in organizing and hosting of the Winter Olympic Games, Putin said, adding Moscow would also study the experience of 2016 Summer Olympics due in Brazil, host of the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The overall cost of the World Cup-2018 is estimated at 20 billion U.S. dollars. Most of the money will be spent on the 12 stadiums and relevant infrastructure in 11 host cities. --Xinhua
