Nikkei up by break

Tokyo stocks gained 1.62 percent in the morning session Thursday, following gains overnight in New York.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 244.43 points to 15,360.23 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 1.53 percent, or 19.06 points, to 1,268.21. --AFP
