Britain logs wider deficit in April

Britain's deficit widened in April, the first month of the government's new financial year, official data showed on Thursday.
The state's net borrowing stood at 11.5 billion pounds last month compared with 9.5 billion pounds one year earlier, the Office for National Statistics said in a statement.
Official data released on Thursday confirmed that Britain's economy grew by 0.8 percent in the first quarter. --AFP
