Nikkei gives up early gains

Tokyo stocks closed down 0.85 percent on Tuesday as a drop in financial shares reversed early gains driven by a weaker yen.
The Nikkei 225 index lost 123.61 points to finish at 14,388.77, while the Topix index of all first-section shares was off 0.76 percent, or 8.90 points, to 1,162.50. --AFP
