Captain America tops China box office
(04-15 19:06)

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" topped China's box office in the week ending April 13 with a weekly take of 260 million yuan, according to a film industry weekly.
Starring Chris Evans as the shield-bearing superhero and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, the film has gained about 495 million yuan since its debut on April 4, showed figures released by China Film News on Tuesday.
The sequel drew more positive reviews from Chinese audiences than 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger." On popular film forum Douban, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" was rated 8.1 out of 10, while the original scored 6.2.
Animation "Rio 2" took second place with a box office of 82 million yuan in its first screening week.
Third place went to Chinese movie "The Truth About Beauty" with a weekly box office of 35 million yuan. The film gained about 73 million in its first two screening weeks, an impressive performance for a low-budget comic romance.
Another animation, "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," ranked fourth. Its total box office has reached 120 million yuan since debuting on March 28.
In the week from April 7 to 13, 12.8 million people went to the cinema in China, spending 467 million yuan on tickets. --Xinhua
