Nikkei closes higher

Stocks in Tokyo gained 0.84 percent after another strong performance on Wall Street, where the S&P 500 ended at a fresh high.
The headline Nikkei 225 index added 125.56 points to finish at 15,071.88, while the Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.45 percent, or 5.41 points, to 1,216.77.—AFP
