(Figure skating) Podium finish for Savchenko and Szolkowy

Olympic bronze medallists Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy of Germany won a fifth world pairs title today in their final competition in Japan before retirement.
In the absence of Olympic champions and main rivals, Russia's Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, the German pair scored 145.86 points in the free skate to finish with 224.88 points overall at the world championships.
Russia's Olympic silver medallists Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov came in second at 215.92 with Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford of Canada third at 210.84.—AFP
