Hang Seng edges up in cautious trade, Shanghai down

Stocks in Hong Kong opened flat, adding to the previous day's gains, but trade was cautious following a sell-off on Wall Street. The benchmark Hang Seng Index edged up 9.32 points to 21,897.07.
In Shanghai, shares were down slightly in morning trading. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.19 percent, or 3.94 points, to 2,059.73.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged down 0.26 percent, or 2.83 points, to 1,086.03.—AFP
