HK jobless rate stays at 3.1pc

Hong Kong's unemployment rate stayed at 3.1 percent for the three months ended February, the Census and Statistics Department said today.
The increase in unemployment was mainly seen in the construction sector, while in the information and communications sector saw a drop in jobless rate.
The underemployment rate dipped to 1.2 percent in December to February period from 1.3 percent in the three months between November and January.
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Matthew Cheung Kin-chung said that the unemployment rate is expected to remain low in the near term on the back of steady growth in domestic demand.
