Hang Seng closes higher, Shanghai drops

Stocks in Hong Kong extended the previous day's gains to close up 0.23 percent today.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index ended up 51.78 points to 22,587.72 on turnover of HK$55.4 billion.
In Shanghai, shares closed down. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended down 0.77 percent, or 16.35 points, to 2,119.07 on turnover of 129.8 billion yuan.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.41 percent, or 4.77 points, to 1,155.62 on turnover of 186.4 billion yuan.
