Dutch speed skaters sweep podium

In the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Michel Mulder saw off a fierce challenge from his Dutch teammates to win the 500-metre speed skating gold as the Netherlands swept the podium. He beat compatriot Jan Smeekens by just one hundredth of a second in a thrilling climax. Ronald Mulder who is the twin brother of Michel took bronze.
Canada's Charles Hamelin claimed his third Olympic gold when he won the men's 1500-metre short track. There was another gold for Canada in the moguls as Alex Bilodeau retained his title.
France took its first gold of the Games when Martin Fourcade won the biathlon pursuit. Norwegian legend Ole Einar Bjoerndalen narrowly missed out on an outright Winter Games medals record. He finished in fourth. --RTHK
