Hang Seng, Shanghai finish flat

Hong Kong stocks ended flat on Tuesday in cautious trade ahead of a Federal Reserve policy meeting as investors wait to find out the bank's plans for its stimulus programme.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index eased 15.46 points to 21,960.64 on turnover of HK$72.95 billion.
But Chinese shares closed up 0.26 percent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 5.21 points to 2,038.51 on turnover of 65.8 billion yuan. --AFP
