Ombudsman criticizes Buildings Dept
(01-23 11:56)

The Ombudsman has criticized the Buildings Department's handling of illegal structure cases involving government officials and legislators.
From 2011, the Department set up "special procedures" for priority handling of so-called celebrity cases.
But after a direct investigation, the Ombudsman, Alan Lai Nin, said the Department was inefficient in taking enforcement actions -- such as issuing warning letters or removal orders -- against offending cases. --RTHK
